Beware the Process at Home Rebate Processing Scam

By Jess Ray

Process At Home offers a rebate processing certification program, a simple data entry work from home opportunity for those looking to supplement their income. The work appears to be simple data entry involving filling out rebate forms for major companies. It all seems simple enough but the truth of the matter is that this is not more than a deceptive, all be it clever, spin on affiliate marketing. Let me explain...

When you begin to go through the Process At Home training you are shown how to set up accounts with services such as Pay Dot Com, Pay Pal, Blogger, Ezine Articles and Google Pay Per Click.

You select various informational products and services through Pay Dot Com, a third party affiliate management service, that you would like to advertise and sell. Using advertising such as Google pay per click, free classifieds ads, article marketing and blogging, you drive consumers to the sales web pages of these selected products.

This is where the rebate comes into play. It is at this point that Process At Home instructs you to offer a rebate in your advertising with the idea that this will give you an edge and therefor generate a sale. But, the rebate is just a portion of your commission. Like I alluded to at the beginning, Process At Home has take the basic principles of affiliate marketing and added the rebate element to make their program appear different from the other affiliate marketing programs out there.

The deception does not end there. The training provided by Process At Home is sub par to say the least. Many affiliate networks offer their own basic training to members, some if which is equal to if not better then what is provided by Process At Home.

As if this was not enough, Process At Home's entire program is based on a direct violation of the affiliate terms and services. It states clearly in the fine print of the user agreement you clicked yes to that you will in no way alter or manipulate the pricing of the products you are going to promote.

The final snag with the Process At Home program is the rebate checks themselves. First, you would need to monitor the time window of any and all money back guarantees of the products you are promoting so you could avoid issuing rebates on products that would get returned. Second, do you want to be writing $15 checks to people all the time or sending out PayPal payments everyday? I know I don't, talk about a pain the butt!

At this point, you are probably saying, forget this. I want nothing to do with any of this B.S. I don't care if affiliate marketing is a real, legitimate job. I want to be able to just do a few hours of work on my computer and get paid.

Okay, that is a simple enough request, but there is a very important element that you must understand. No matter how many ads you see online telling you otherwise, very few work from home jobs exist in the sense that you may be seeking. And, even if you were able to land one of the highly sought after positions, you would still be self employed.

Opportunities in the insurance or sales industry may allow you to manage a territory and allow you to work from a home office, but you will be expected to travel. Other positions may entail skills as a telemarketer, recruiter or general project manager that can work unsupervised and on a contract or part time basis.

*General Data Entry

*Virtual Administrative Assistant

* Transcription/Data entry

These are just a few examples.

But, no matter what job title you choose to pursue, you are an independent contractor and are essentially working for yourself. You are responsible for meeting deadlines, organizing and prioritizing tasks and managing your time effectively. But just as important is knowing how to position yourself in front of those in need of your services.

You may not want to hear this, but it is unavoidable, you need to learn how to market online if you want to work from home on your computer. But, marketing does not mean pitching or selling, it means that you will use the world wide web to get yourself out there and in front of those looking for what it is you have to offer.

"How do I learn internet marketing?" Anywhere and everywhere. Just "google" internet marketing and you will be amazed at the information you will find. There are Ebook, ECourses and physical information products galore on the subject. You can even go to your local bookstore to find information on internet marketing.
