Day in and day out, more and more people are going to the internet to find a new career. Buyer beware, the more people that flock to the internet, the more scams there will be lurking.
Over the years I have worked with and for numerous companies both over the internet and in person and have develop a knack a spotting the scams. There are a lot of similar characteristics and things to look out for.
The number one thing to remember is that your first impression is usually right so trust it. If you felt uneasy in the beginning head that advicce because your were probably right. If something looks off in the website, i.e. mispellings and things of that nature be wary.
Another red flag that will come up is the overpromising company. If they tell you you can make enourmous sums of money with little to no work put you guard up. Unfortunately, you still have to work for your money on the internet, sorry to dissapoint.
Second, narrow your list of legitimate companies and put together a set of questions to ask all of them. If possible see if you can speak to the owner of the company or see how high you can go. IF the president of the company is the one who recruited you then odds are its a 1 man shop so again, beware.
Luckily for us in this day and age there are a lot of 3rd party sources on the internet that review companies and write reviews on them. BE careful however, the companies themselves may put out reviews, so be sure to watch your source.
Hopefully this article has not made you rule out starting your own internet business or working from home, because it can be very lucrative!
I too operate an online business and I must say it has worked out great! All you have to do now is some research, so get out there.
